PASS Guys Win Speed51.com Awards

(Naples, ME – February 12, 2005) Johnny Clark is moving to quarterback, Ted Christopher to running back, and Norm Marx will take all the pictures.

We all know about John Madden’s annual All-Madden Team for the toughest guys in the NFL. Speed51.com’s Bob Dillner makes his annual selection of the toughest racers, especially in short track racing, for the All-Dillner Team.

Bob’s choice for starting quarterback in the 2004 All-Dillner Team is Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, ME, the 2004 PASS Series champion. According to Dillner, Johnny “has a little Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steelers great QB) in him” because he shaved off the full-beard after he won the big money DNK 250 and now has a goatee. According to Dillner, “That’s Bradshaw-esque.”

Johnny is joined on the All-Dillner Team by starting running back Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT who drives Clinton Teague’s #34 PASS Monte Carlo. According to Dillner, Ted’s “strong like the Patriot’s Corey Dillon, yet he’s got the nasty demeanor of a linebacker when he puts his game face on and that’s what makes him so good.”

Johnny and Ted were not the only recipients of awards from Speed51.com. In addition to the All-Dillner Team, the annual “51’s” is a national contest voted on by all the Speed51.com fans. Fans get to vote for everything from the best story of the year, to the best short-track driver – Ted Christopher, who beat WOO King Steve Kinser by three votes, to the most improved, the best finish, etc.

By a very wide margin among the voters, The “51’s Photo of the Year” went to our very own webmaster and motorsports photographer extraordinaire Norm Marx for his picture of PASS regular Walt Hammond’s wild ride up the fence at Unity last year that just about took him out of the park during the DNK 250.

Johnny Named Driver of the Year

(Naples, ME - January 7, 2005)
The 2004 PASS champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, ME was named Touring Series Driver of the Year at the Northeast Motorsports Expo in Augusta, ME tonight.

Johnny joins a distinguished roster of the best-of-the-best in the Northeast. He edged out 2002 and 2003 winner Andy Santerre, who almost made it a "three-peat" like he did on the track. Johnny is now the second PASS champion to be chosen Touring Series Driver of the Year, following 2000 winner Ben Rowe.

He joins some of the greatest names in racing in the Northeast, from Joe Bessey in 1992 and Ricky Craven in '93 to Dale Shaw, Dave Dion, Kelly Moore, two-time winner in '97 and '98 Mike Stefanik, Brad Leighton, Mike Olsen, Rowe, as well as two-time winner Santerre. Over 30 members of the motorsports press corp in the Northeast cast ballots for the Driver of the Year Award.

To say that Johnny was surprised when presented with the trophy would be an understatement. However, he quickly rose to the occasion and thanked his crew chief brother Bobby, the entire #54 team, sponsors DNK Select Used Cars and Clark's Cars and Parts, the family business that makes a lot of it happen, and all the other associate sponsors. Johnny said, "I would like to thank the members of the media for this award, and I would like to thank everyone from PASS, the other race teams, and especially the fans who make this the best touring series in the Northeast."

Talent, Teamwork & Consistency:
Johnny Clark is the 2004 Champion

by Norm Desjardins - PASS PR
Johnny Clark drove one of the toughest races of his career Saturday at Thompson International Speedway, staying out of trouble and running a clean race to record a ninth place finish in the PASS Octoberfest 100. On any other night a ninth place run would be less than satisfying for a team that’s led the series with four victories and twelve top five finishes in the fifteen races that made up the 2004 Pro All Stars Championship chase. But Saturday’s ninth place run clinched the 2004 Pro All Stars Series Championship for the young man from Farmingdale Maine, capping a great season for Clark’s family-focused race team. Full Story on PASS Site
