It’s the law!

The law is the law. That’s what keeps our society in order. But while reading an interesting article in the newspaper yesterday, I came upon a few peculiar laws and thought I could share my discovery with you guys. Some of them don’t or didn’t always make sense, but what can you do about it? It’s the law!

DON’T SHOW THEM LEGS!

In the 1950s, the City of Aylmer prohibited girls over 12 years old to wear shorts in public.  During the summer, when girls would go to the post office to get their mail, the ones wearing shorts would cause quite a stir. That’s why the city established that rule.

DON’T MESS WITH INDIANA’S RABBIT!

In the state of Indiana, it is strictly prohibited to dye a rabbit. According to the article 15-2.1-21-13, a person who dyes or otherwise alters the natural color of a bird or rabbit commits a class B misdemeanor. In Indiana, a class B misdemeanor is punishable by imprisonment for no more than 180 days and maximum 1000$ fine.

IF YOU WANT TO COMMIT A CRIME, DON’T DRESS UP!

In Delaware, in law 1239, it says that a person wearing a mask or any type of costumes during a criminal act is guilty of…wearing a costume during a criminal act. Wearing a costume during a criminal act is a class E crime. Got it?

SORRY HARRY POTTER BUT CANADA JUST AIN’T FOR YOU!

If Harry Potter wanted to come live in Canada with his wizards friends, he wouldn’t be able to. Witchcraft is officially prohibited in Canada. Take a look at article 365 from the Criminal Code:

Every one who fraudulently

(a) pretends to exercise or to use any kind of witchcraft, sorcery, enchantment or conjuration,

(b) undertakes, for a consideration, to tell fortunes, or

(c) pretends from his skill in or knowledge of an occult or crafty science to discover where or in what manner anything that is supposed to have been stolen or lost may be found,

is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
