After AIDS awareness day, let us now give our support to our children!

Support ANTI-CHILD ABUSE CAMPAIGN, by changing your Facebook profile pic to your favorite cartoon character and keep it until December 6, 2010. Hopefully by then there will be no human faces or images found on Facebook.

I am not sure who started this campaign (it was a status post announcement i found from a friend, who i am guessing found it from a friend too and so on), but it is definitely something I strongly agree with! This maybe some random post or may not come from a very important government agency or a valid non-government organization, but what the heck, its purpose and message is something we all care about. After all we are not ask to pay for donation, showing your support with just a few clicks from your computer, mobile or tablet is not that of a big deal. This is also not meant to promote a brand, for it does not ask you to place any twibbons or tag a certain product.  The campaign is simply showing the world that we are all against child abuse. Don’t we all want our kids to be safe, protected and free from danger or maltreatment from abusive beings? So let’s all act now and show our sincere support on protecting our children.

Please share among your friends and show the world that we all love and care about our children. Hoping celebrities, artist, socialites, famous personalities, politicians, athletes etc will also join this campaign and spare a few days of keeping their personal branding aside.

Yahoo Philippines noticed the viral effect of the Anti-Child Abuse Facebook Campaign started by an unknown person.

[Update: 12-03-10]

As I was browsing further, I found a page concerning the same activity of changing one’s profile picture to their favorite cartoon character, but on this post it was a game and it started mid November and will finish by end of the month.  A local Filipino page link was even provided as an example of the status post. International information sites Huffington Post and All Facebook is the source of this information. Same as the ANTI-Child Abuse Campaign happening in the Philippines, origin of the viral activity on facebook is unknown.

Just a thought: Maybe the person who started to include “elimination of violence against children” on this status facebook game had a hard time convincing his/her friends to change their profile pictures and so added something that would probably encourage them to support a good cause so as to continue the game.. same as rumors… words are usually exaggerated and as it goes from one person to another the story changes….

Check on the links below from where I think this campaign started:

Any of these maybe the origin of the Anti Child Abuse Viral campaign that flooded our Facebook with cute cartoon character profile pictures, it definitely touched and moved a lot of people. Showing support on how we value our future leaders, our children, through a simple task as this have once again gathered all Filipinos and other nationalities around the globe to shout out a very important message.  Not everyone knows the origin of this campaign, but a lot have participated not only because its fun but because they want to show their support that they are against child abuse.

I care about our children and with this simple task I am shouting out to the world that I am against Child Abuse and will keep my cartoon character profile picture until the end of this campaign.

Kudos to the person who have started this campaign, for you have brought all nations together!

  1. Thank you for the link back 🙂 I agree with you on being against child abuse. I just do not understand when will it stop. We should do something more than Facebook updates and all to stop this disgusting thing!

    • the only thing i think we can do other than that is to be the guards ourselves… our governments cannot protect everyone at the same time, so as citizens of our own country we can keep an eye on the children in our community and make sure that they are not being abuse by anyone, then report to the authorities involved.

Thanks for checking out my post as well!

Real or not, I like the idea. In fact, I liked it so much I fixed its biggest error- instead of being AGAINST child abuse or, ANTI child violence, etc. I changed MY status to read “promoting nonviolent childhoods.” All the best movements stand FOR something 😉

    • Hi Christal! Thanks for viewing my post and for the comment!

Yeah, changing the status message is a good idea. i think it should be something like “Let us promote awareness on child abuse to help eliminate violence against our future leaders. To show your support, change your profile pic to your favorite cartoon character. Let as all act as guardians to all the children in our community”.

I don’t see my comment up here :/ well, as I was saying, I changed my status to read “promoting nonviolent childhoods” so that I can stand FOR something, instead of against it. Kinda like Mother Teresa suggested 😉
