Event Information


Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a 5 mile noncompetitive walk to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. Donations are dedicated to life-saving American Cancer Society research, education, patient support, and advocacy programs to defeat the disease.

Rolling start:

Walkers can start immediately after registration; the 5 mile walk usually lasts about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It is not mandatory to finish the entire 5 mile walk. No formal warm up, but recommended on own. Free snacks and drinks will be made available to participants. TASC has formed a walking team.  The team's pledge amount can come from personal contributions or can be raised with fundraisers, like bake sales, car washes, sports tournaments; ideas are limited only by your imagination.

Agenda:
Rolling Start & Registration time 9AM-11AM. The parking fee will be waived. Handicapped accessible Park in parking fields 4 and 5. The best way to have a co-worker support a fellow co-worker is to sponsor them. Breast cancer survivors can pick up their free Survivors T-Shirt at the survivor tent. T-shirts order forms will be found in the team captain's kit. The forms can be mailed or faxed to the local office. Walk is rain or shine.

The following are beach rules: No pets, (even hand held ones), no roller-blading, no skateboards, no scooters, no latex/Mylar balloons or inflatable items, i.e., blimps, signs, or 7-foot gorillas, no signs tied to poles, bushes, trees, structures, or signposts, tables, booths, canopies, or stations of any kind by any company/organization other than American Cancer Society and our flagship sponsors, no handing out of pamphlets, flyers, premiums or other materials to the general public advertising or promoting. This will cause a litter crisis. No catering trucks in the field or parking lot, no smoking. Baby strollers, wagons or joggers are welcome. Hand held banners only.

Additional Information:

Those that are unable to attend the day of the walk can still collect donations. Please mail the forms directly to the American Cancer Society. Volunteers are needed, please contact local office or email local ACS contact. Water, restrooms/porta-potties are available day of the event.
Appropriate attire:
Casual-Walk Attire including comfortable walking shoes.
