A series of massive earthquakes and subsequent tsunamis hit Japan on 11 March, and caused tremendous damage to the Northeastern Japan. MUJI would like to send all our heartfelt regards to the affected regions and hope quick recovery from the enormous damages will come soon.

Our Japan Headquarter, located in Tokyo, has been back to normal operation and all our staff are safe in the disaster. However, there are still frequent aftershocks, and the transportation and communication network in Japan is being slightly affected.

MUJI Japan Headquarter has reacted promptly to the earthquake on product supply and manufacture.  Several manufacturers located near the disaster area are temporarily closed, and several MUJI stores recorded damages after the earthquakes are now temporarily suspended.

For overseas MUJI stores, all  products available at MUJI Hong Kong stores currently were produced and imported before the earthquake, therefore are safe for customers’ consumption. As MUJI has adopted global supply chain strategies for years, apart from Japan, we are still having regular product import from other countries directly. Thus, we can maintain stable supplies of most of our product range in the near future.

Both MUJI Hong Kong and our Japan Headquarter will closely monitor the condition in Japan and evaluate the supply condition for further arrangement. We will be giving our best endeavour to ensure all goods are produced under a clean and safe environment and serve our customers with safe and quality products.

Our thoughts go out to all people in the affected areas.
