Dropout is a clothing brand designed and created in Montreal, 2010. What gave the creator(s) the idea for Dropout clothing? The creator of Dropout, Ian Alfonso, first, came with the idea of pursuing this project when he was out with some friends on some “creative juice”, and one idea led to another then decided why not make their own tees? Soon after began its creation. Ian wasn’t the type to pursue a life where one goes through years and years of school then try to find a job. He wanted to “build something from ground up” without any experience only creativity.

How he came up with the brand name Dropout? Originally, they wanted to name it Slacker Clothing or After School Special. But they were not satisfied with the name. They were looking for something more straight, honest, in your face or that creates controversy or mystery. Then came in Dropout clothing. “And no, this is not a knock off of tapout clothing LOL”

Dropout Clothing is not necessarily trying to influence everyone to dropout of school just to look cool. It is simply implying that there are other possibilities to make a life than getting a degree from a University. Dropout’s designer have met a couple of people who’ve put aside their education and follow their passions and dreams and who are now successful. He does not want to miss out on those opportunities and think to himself “I wish I’ve done that.”

Dropout Clothing planning to expand to denim, sneakers or accessories? Dropout definitely  has future plans for accessories and more cut & sew items. They are also hoping to get a collaboration with major sneaker brands and get noticed worldwide. Dropouts designer still contemplating about the denim line but can see it coming in the far future.

Here are some of Dropouts first ever designs to have made it in their collection.
