Apartment

Our bright and sunny, south facing apartment situated in Corstorphine, is approximately 3 miles from the centre of Historic Edinburgh.  Built in the 1902 (as engraved on the building) this apartment is part of one of the smaller Scottish, stone built, tenement blocks.

Whilst built in 1902, a modern apartment with full double glazing, gas central heating and radiators in every room awaits guests.  Located on the first floor, the apartment has been fully refurbished (in 2005) and decorated to a high standard.  The south facing aspect of the Sitting Room with its sofas and easy chairs and views over the local park towards the Pentland Hills provides a relaxing environment - ideal after a hard day sightseeing.
The galley kitchen provides most mod cons (washing machine, microwave, etc), but there is no dishwasher.
The Double and Single bedrooms are situated to the rear of the property with wardrobes and small dressers.  These combined with a comfortable sofa bed in the Living Room provides sleeping accommodation for four.
There is also a shower room with WC and basin - please note there is NO Bath.

Corstorphine High Street is located one street back from the main thoroughfare to Edinburgh from the West and offers a short bus ride to the city centre for most Festival venues and Historic attractions.  There is parking behind the apartment building but again, guests are advised to leave the car behind if they are visiting the city centre.

Kitchen:  Fully kitted out with electric oven and 4-ring gas hob, fridge freezer,  washing machine and microwave.  Crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, cooking utensils and glasses are all provided.

Dining:  A fold down table and chairs are provided for use in the Living Room.

Living Room:  A double seater sofa, one sofa beds (with full mattress) ensures comfortable seating for all.  A colour television and video are also provided, so bring a couple of videos if you fancy a quiet night in.
Single Bedroom:  Situated to the rear of the property with wardrobe and chest
Double Bedroom:  A double/twin bed with storage drawers, wardrobe and chest
Shower Room:  With Electric Shower - No Bath

Beds are already made up with linen and duvets; and towels for every member of the party will be laid out.  All our bedding is hypo-allergenic and there are additional blankets provided should anyone feel the need.

Corstorphine and Edinburgh

Welcome to one of Edinburgh's hidden treasures!  Situated approximately 3 miles from the city centre, Corstorphine is ideally located not just to provide a base for visiting and exploring this vibrant and exciting city but is also superbly placed to offer easy access to Glasgow, Perthshire and the Highlands.  Edinburgh Airport is less than 5 miles from the apartment and the new Super Fast Ferry Terminal at Rosyth is less than 15 miles away offering quick and easy access to and from the Continent.  A vast range of local amenities are available on your doorstep, a prize winning butcher, local baker and a range of delightful one off shops are all on the main road; and less than 1/2 mile from the apartment is a large supermarket.

Opposite the apartment is St Margaret's Park with tennis courts, putting green and bowling, together with a children's play area offering more local activities - ideal for our younger guests to let off steam.  There are also plenty of benches for Mum and Dad, either to keep watch, watch the bowling and tennis, or just sit in the sunshine and read for half an hour.

The park is also the location for the Dower House and the home of Corstorphine Heritage.  This group has worked tirelessly over the last few years to improve visitor awareness of the area - with quite a lot of success.  The village is now well sign posted with places of interest clearly marked.  Every even numbered year, the Corstorphine Fair is held in the park with bands, stalls, activities for young and old and all kinds of entertainment.  Our next fair is in 2006 and is usually held the first or second Saturday in June.

Edinburgh City Centre is a bus journey of about 15 minutes and all the buses will drop you off on Princes Street.  From where you can access both the Old and the New Towns of Edinburgh, either by bus or by foot.  Walking up to the Old Town from Princes Street , through the wonderful Princes Street Gardens, will bring you out at Edinburgh Castle (a Must See which dominates the City skyline) and the top of the Royal Mile.  From here there is much of historical and architectural interest and the route is terminated by the Royal Palace of Holyrood which is also the site for the new Scottish Parliament (a somewhat controversial building!).

The World Heritage Site of Edinburgh's Georgian New Town is also worth an explore; if only for the wonderful views of the Firth of Forth and Fife which all the North bound streets offer.  Here you will find a wide range of one off shops, cafés and restaurants, particularly heading towards our wonderful Botanic Gardens and Stockbridge.

Travel east from the apartment, Edinburgh Zoo is quickly reached, either by foot or by bus, and is world famous for both its animal breeding/conservation role and its penguin colony with the daily parade during the summer.  Ask Lesley at the Penguins about her recent trip to meet the penguins of the Falkland Islands!

This is only a taster of what we can offer - if you have any special interests please make contact and Chris and I will do our very best to assist.

We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful and charismatic city.
