Selection of appropriate biocide/fungicide

Dear Sir. I am an expert in steel pipe manufacturing co. and my company use a lot of cutting oil.  As you know soluble cutting oil emulsions are subject to bacterial action and it is rust-preventative properties, and promotes oil water separation. There for, I am looking for a highly effective bactericide and fungicide additive for metalworking fluids.  During my searching in internet, I saw your web site (metalworking fluids magazine) and I find out, you try to solve the problems that happen for every one about their matter.  Now I would please if you send me some information about how to select an appropriate biocide and fungicide for a soluble cutting oil?  For selecting a dip slide, which aspect must be attention? Thanks a lot, MD

Dear MD Best bet is  to obtain a copy of the new ASTM Standard.  For an overview and links, go to our Technology page and scan down to Product & Industry Focus.  Fred Passman provided us with a great reference to the subject.  Here's a direct link you: ASTM GUIDE ON BIOCIDE SELECTION.  At you continue to have problems, consider contacting Mr. Passman.  Thanks for the great question.
