NEW NST R&D: Ford Merkur XR4Ti 2.3 Turbo Pulley Kit

MERKUR

Merkur, German for mercury, was an automobile brand which was briefly marketed by Ford Motor Company in the United States and Canada from 1985 to 1989.  The brand offered two European inspired cars, with the Merkur XR4Ti powered by a 2.3 turbo powerplant.

OEM Merkur V-Belt pulleys are now considered dated and unreliable

NonStopTuning serpentine pulley conversion; more reliable and 70% lighter!

An avid racer from CARTCT and a member of The Merkur Club of America, Ray (demonfire), contacted us and asked for some help with his pulley setup.  Ray was unhappy with his V-Belt pulley setup and mentioned that he and some of his fellow board members on The Merkur Club were interested in a serpentine pulley setup.  We got to work, and have a prototype kit ready for testing.  As upposed to the heavy OEM steel pulleys, the NST pulleys are CNC machined using lightweight aluminum which is then hard anodized for extra durability.  The NST kit will underdrive the accessories by about 20%, while shaving 70% weight from the rotating assembly.  The end result is better HP and TQ delivery, better throttle response, and better fuel economy.

Ray plans to run and test the NST kit on his 85 XR4Ti during the 2010 season…

Drop 70% weight and ditch your V-Belts for a single six rib serpentine belt!

The NST accessory pulleys do NOT slow your PS, ALT, WP ... but are 70% lighter

No modifications required, complete bolt-on kit.  Those of you who may be interested are encouraged to contact us through our website or by phone.  Anyone needing a custom set of pulleys for a special project is also welcome to contact us, as we have the ability and expertise to offer custom pulleys for all applications.

  1. I am very excited to be test fitting and testing these pullies for NST. My factory pullies did the job, and did it well, but left some on the table to be desired. The other options underdrove my car to the point where i couldn’t hold voltage. I know the NST pullies will take care of all of those issues, and give the Merkur community a reliable source of proven performance (and style) while updating our cars to serpentine belts.

  2. Those are pretty nice looking pulleys. Is there a timing mark on the crank pulley? I can’t tell from the pictures. Would you anodize them in different colors or offer bare ones?

  3. Thank you for the comments guys, we appreciate them. All NST Crank Pulleys are properly marked and include timing marks. All pulleys are CNC machined in the USA and are hard anodized, the strongest method of anodizing in the industry.

  11. Since I cannot find them on your website and I didn’t see a search function.

    How much are these pulleys?

What all comes in the kit?

Are these a straight bolt on conversion with no modifications or other parts needed to use these?

Thanks for making these, hopefully they will work in my application.
