Noel Hodgson

A native Northumbrian now based, with his family, at Tillmouth where they run a thriving five-star-rated B&B – The Old School House – Noel Hodgson also has roots in Lesbury, Howick, Chatton, Wooler and Kilham. A ‘semi-retired’ teacher, Noel is about to commence work on a gymnastics handbook for practical academic use, while also continuing to write his poetry, some of which will doubtless find itself in a third collection of his unique, locally-flavoured verse.

Other work-in-progress includes his semi-autobiographical novel Dody Man, reflecting life as a young man in the farming community of 1960s Northumberland, and a trilogy of Western stories inspired by a year spent in the USA teaching, during which time Noel was able to follow the old cattle trails that helped shape America.

A keen tennis player, veteran rugby player, avid reader and lover of good food and wine, Noel’s remarkable zest for life is captured in the pages of his poetry collections Dancing Over Cheviot and Below Flodden. A true original and an authentic voice of Northumberland, Noel continues to seek fresh challenges – and will most likely find them.
