Hello, I am looking to study nursing but can’t make up my mind to do the diploma EEN then degree or go straight to the degree?
I want to start a family next year and need study to be flexible so I think a correspondence would suit.
I am thinking of doing study through either Gold coast tafe online EEN starting mid year this year, fulltime, or CQU external part time starting next year.
HELP! what should I do?
Can managing being a new mum and study be done?
How have people found part time external RN degrees?
how many hours will I need to dedicate to- Gold coast tafe EEN online or CQU external part time?
I have spent so many hours reading info on these topics and am still so confused. I would love it if someone could help. :)

Hi there domino.
I think it would really depend on what your study haabits are like. If you can sit at home and study, or if you learn better in a class room environment. If your looking to start a family next year, just be aware that RN is 3 years and EN is 1.5 years. Dont forget you need to go on palcements as well.

How about if you did your EN than work a bit and then start a family. At least that way you have a nursing job that you can go back to and if you decide to study part time RN externally while you have a child than you can do that.

Hope this helps, and didn't confuse you more.

:)

Hi Liz123,
Thanks so much for your reply. I am an organised studier and can sit for hours by myself and get things done. But the thing with correspondence, that I worry about is not being able to have certain things explained to you. Would three days a week be enough time to complete a EEN fulltime course by correspondence with Gold coast Tafe, because I could set aside 3 days a week around my current work and get the EEN done by the end of next year?
Thanks!
P.S- Its so nice having people take the time to help through forums, and exciting to have replies. :)
