  3. Any idea on the best / most effective formation to use?

  4. I used to use 4-1-3-2 exclusively, and it seemed to work in any situation.
But with the last couple of versions of the game it has become increasingly important to pick the formation and tactics to suit the players you have available. The individual tactics for each player are key to having a successful team.
Unfortunately this makes it almost impossible to offer any advice without knowing the players you have at your disposal.
I am a huge fan of the holding midfield player though - he's the key player in any formation I use.

  5. i Leeds United. 1st season won league 1. next season won championship and league cup. 1st season in prem, won league cup and finished 6th. Then won uefa cup league cup and premiership title. followed by champions league, fa cup, league title, league cup and community shield. use a 4-3-3.

  6. Clearly he has used fm genie to generate these results otherwise he wouldnt no there potential ability, fm genie is the only way to find out, so instead of searching for the best players via the net why dont you lot just download fm genie and find out all this infomation 'and more' for your selfs + ability is not everything, you can also look up players consistency rating, best potential rating and lots of other hidden attributes...
as for formations, there isnt a perfect formation, you just have to create one to suit your players, the best place to learn about tactics and formations is here http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=61144

study it, understand it, and make some formations, all i can tell use is mentality and closing down are KEY, i cant highligt that enough...
    good luck!!!

  7. Well, I have used Genie in the past but this post was made before the FM2009 version of Genie was released - my other posts show how the potential ability is noted within the game and how to work out the ability range. If Genie had been around it would have saved me a few hours work! :)
