OCK Chartered Surveyors was founded in 1953 as Ord Carmell & Kritzler and have provided our customers with friendly and professional chartered surveying services on a full range of residential and commercial property matters since then.

April 2020 Open for business: our coronavirus (COVID-19) mitigation plan

Looking after our clients and our team

In line with the latest government guidance, OCK Chartered Surveyors is open for business. We are now booking in surveys for vacant properties and properties that can be made vacant for the survey, providing that nobody normally resident is self-isolating, over 70 years old or in any other high-risk group.

We are dedicated to looking after our clients, both by continuing to provide an excellent surveying service and by taking precautions to minimise the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We are committed to protecting the health of our clients and our team. Our coronavirus surveying mitigation measures that we have put in place are designed to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

Before your survey

At the time of booking, you will be asked if anyone at the inspection property is self-isolating or has any symptoms associated with coronavirus (a fever, a new & persistent cough or flu-like symptoms). You will also be asked if anyone in the property is over 70 or in a high-risk group. If there is deemed to be a risk, the survey will be postponed to a later date.

Our staff are self-monitoring daily for any signs or symptoms of coronavirus and will isolate immediately if they have any concerns. In this case, surveys will be rearranged with an alternative surveyor whenever possible or postponed to a later date.

During your survey

Properties will only be surveyed if they are vacant. The property may be vacant long-term, or could be vacated by the occupiers in line with government guidance.

Properties should not be vacated if the occupants would be putting themselves or others at risk of spreading coronavirus; in such circumstances, we can arrange the survey for an alternative date.

The surveyor or booking team will confirm whether anyone who lives at the inspection property is self-isolating, has any symptoms associated with coronavirus (a fever, a new & persistent cough or flu-like symptoms), is over 70 years old or is in a high-risk group.

If there is deemed to be a risk, the survey will be postponed to a later date.

When on site, our surveyors maintain strict personal hygiene, using hand sanitisers, gloves, masks, wipes and soap & water at regular intervals and before and after touching surfaces. Surfaces that are touched are wiped down afterwards to reduce risk still further.

Our surveyors have been asked to decline handshakes and maintain a distance of at least 2m from others at all times.

After your survey

We are avoiding any face-to-face meetings. This means that we may suggest a phone call or web-based meeting to discuss survey findings, rather than meeting you on site.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and our policy will be updated in line with government recommendations. We will notify you of any updates or changes.

Hillel Broder BSc (Hons) MRICS

Building Surveying

Hillel Broder BSc(Hons) MRICS qualified in 1995 having studied at the Southbank University. He joined OCK in 1987. He now heads the Building Surveying Department. Born in London he is married and has a family. His interests include fish keeping, photography and portrait painting as well as previously acting as first aid volunteer in the Hatzola ambulance service.

James Kritzler BSc (Hons) MRICS

Valuations

James Kritzler BSc (Hons) MRICS graduated from Reading University in 2004. In his final year he won the Land Securities Trillium Corporate Real Estate Prize, awarded for the highest mark in the Corporate Strategy and Property unit. He passed the APC in 2010 to become a Professional Member of the RICS. He specialises in valuation work and Landlord & Tenant rent reviews and Lease renewal work. James lives in London and is married and has a young family. He enjoys playing football, tennis and outdoor swimming in Highgate Ponds.

Immanuel Gabay BSc (Hons) MRICS

Management & Lease renewals

Immanuel Gabay BSc(Hons) MRICS joined the firm in 1998 as a Trainee Surveyor having had experience in Residential Estate Agency and achieving a Diploma in Residential Estate Agency at Reading University. As a Trainee Surveyor Immanuel studied part time at Southbank University and graduated in 2004 with a BSc degree in Estate Management. He successfully completed his APC and was elected a Professional Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in November 2006. He proceeded to become a Partner in 2009 and heads the Management Department where he specialises in Landlord & Tenant matters for both Residential & Commercial sectors. Immanuel is married with a young family and is an active member of the local community as well as a Trustee of local Charities.

Robert Levy FRICS

Valuations

Robert Levy FRICS who heads the Valuation Department joined the firm as a trainee surveyor in 1986. He qualified in 1993 having studied at the Hammersmith and West London College. Born in Glasgow, he now lives in North West London, is married with a family.

Benjy Dolties BSc (Hons)

Block Management

Benjy Dolties BSc (Hons) started off his career after graduating at the University of Westminster in Urban Estate Management at a family run property company based in North London where he worked for over a decade. Specialising in commercial property management, Benjy was also responsible for a large portfolio of residential flats and blocks across the UK. At OCK Benjy takes care of block management and his responsibilities include day to day maintenance, tendering and subsequently implementing work contracts and overseeing the various projects, ensuring health and safety compliance and being the point of contact for both landlords and leaseholders to ensure all managed buildings within the portfolio are well maintained. Benjy is married with a young family and away from the office Benjy is a member of the Chaveirim NW London (non-medical) Emergency Response Group to help take care of the needs of the local community.

Simon Levinson BSc (Hons) MRICS

Building Surveying

Simon Levinson BSc (Hons) MRICS graduated from the University of Westminster in 2014. He was awarded by The School of Architecture and the Built Environment the Progression Scholarship in both his first and second years of study at University for achieving the highest overall average mark across all property courses. He joined a City company in 2014, and worked for three years in their Professional Valuation department. He passed his APC in 2016 to become a Professional Member of the RICS as well as a Registered Valuer. He is the newest member of the valuation team joining in mid-2017. He specialises in valuation work, Leasehold Enfranchisement valuations, and Landlord & Tenant rent reviews and Lease renewal work. Simon lives in London with his young family. He enjoys cycling, playing football and squash, as well as a Trustee of a local charity.

Aaron Schauder MSc MRICS

Valuations

Aaron Schauder MSc MRICS is a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer, having graduated from University College of Estate Management with a MSc in Real Estate. He specialises in valuation work, leasehold enfranchisement valuations, landlord and tenant negotiations, including rent reviews and lease renewals. Aaron is married with a young family and away from the office Aaron enjoys playing football and squash and is an avid sports fan

Gavriel Lewis Trainee Surveyor

Valuations

Gavriel is currently enrolled at the University College of Estate Management studying BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management. Gavriel joined OCK Chartered Surveyors in April 2021, where he assisted Hillel Broder MRICs with site inspections and building surveying practises. In September 2021, Gavriel transferred to the valuation team and currently supports Simon Levinson MRICs with Valuation, Lease extension and collective enfranchisements. Outside of work, Gavriel enjoys travelling and is a keen Footballer.
