Purple Dragon Productions

Purple Dragon Productions is an indie film company local to Spokane, Washington ... and we are very pleased to present to you our first offering - a full length horror film by Bernie LaBrucherie.

The working title for the film is currently Dead of Night and we begin filming within the next few weeks.

Therefore, we will be holding an Open Casting Call in Spokane on Saturday August 13th, 2011 from 1PM - 5PM. ALL parts we are casting for are Speaking Parts and the majority are Lead Roles. We are hoping to use local actors for all open parts. Complete details are listed below - so get the info, start practicing those blood-curdling screams and we'll see you at the auditions. Bernie LaBrucherie

The multi-talented Bernie LaBrucherie has created what we believe is a fine piece of work. He is not only the Director of this film, but he also is the Screenwriter, Camera Crew, Location Crew, and one of the Editors! As a Spokane, Washington resident he is looking forward to working with local talent to bring this film to life.

His film is reminiscent of all the greats -- the old classic horror flicks that instill a sense of true fear in us, with those often rare perfect moments that horror film fans live for ... when for just that split second, a wave of genuine terror washes over you as your heart skips a beat, your pulse quickens, your stomach flutters and knots up -- and then the thrill ebbs away until the next time. And surprisingly, in this fresh take on the genre, that thrill just might slip away while you are busy laughing at the clever and often funny dialog that makes this movie current ... and a cut above the rest.

Parts Available

The Campers

These are the LEAD ROLES in the film, with lots of face time and many lines throughout the majority of the film. All the campers in this film drink. Mixed juices, water and soda will be used for alcohol ... so no actual alcohol will be provided on the set. Also, all the characters with the 'stoner' designation are seen smoking from a bong filled with flavored tobacco -- so if you can't stand smoking these are not the parts for you. And again, no actual marijuana will be used on set.

• DONNIE: [18-20 yrs old, sarcastic personality, jockish stoner]   Loves Julie; clean-cut and upstanding other than his drinking and smoking weed. Has implied sex scene in a sleeping bag w/Julie.
• JAMES: [19-22 yrs old, relaxed personality, smartish stoner]   Julie's older brother; Travis' best friend; he is being set up w/Veronica. The oldest in the group.
• JULIE: [18-20 yrs old, sarcastic personality, good/bad girl]   James' little sister; Donnie's girlfriend; Veronica's best friend. Has implied sex scene in a sleeping bag w/Donnie.
• LACY: [18-20 yrs old, witty/funny/smart, goth/emo type, stoner]   Travis' long time girlfriend; loves Travis. Has implied sex scene in silhouette only thru a tent wall w/Travis.
• VERONICA: [18-20 yrs old, sarcastic personality, good girl gone bad]   Julie's best friend; unknowingly James's romantic interest on campout; plays hard to get.
• TRAVIS: [18-20 yrs old, comic relief, stoner]   James' best friend; Lacy's long time boyfriend; loves Lacy. THIS PART HAS BEEN CAST! We have cast Stephen Snow in this role ... you will probably meet him at the auditions.

The Astronomers

Both of these roles are Speaking Parts ... but in one scene only. Since they will be running lines while using the Director's real life telescopes as props in scene, some experience with handling them [or even other delicate machinery] would be helpful. ;-)

• BERNIE: [25+ yrs old, the perv]   We have no expectations on this role except that you be male and can act -- so make it your own!
• DAVE: [25+ yrs old, Bernie's astronomy buddy]   Nice guy; never gets the chance to go bad. Again, we are open on this role too - so bring your A game and be creative!

The Lovers

Both of these roles are Speaking Parts but again in only one scene. They both have sexual content and very brief upper body nudity is intended for the female role. NOTE: We have not decided what truck to use in this scene - so if you want to put your truck in a movie - we will certainly consider using it.

• MIKE: [25-45 yrs old, married]   Married, but cheating with his girlfriend Lisa in a steamy interlude on the side of a back road.
• LISA: [25-40 yrs old, wild party girl]   Mike's girl on the side enjoying a romantic interlude w/Mike on the side of a back road.

Film Synopsis

During the last weekend of the summer before they head off to different colleges, six good friends go on one last camping trip together ... but may never return! Along the way we meet a doctor, his assistant and a gurney; a mountain woman and her rifle; a couple of astronomers and their telescopes; and an amorous couple and their truck. Will the campers return?? Who are all these people and what do they have in common? Find out what REALLY happens when evil lurks ... in the dead of night!
