     The preserve at Slate Knob Farm contains 16 pioneer log cabins restored with modern amenities to provide contemporary comfort with the appeal of an 1850’s Appalachian homestead. These authentic log homes were moved from their original locations in the southern Appalachians and reconstructed in idyllic settings on a 160 acre farm.

     Each cabin provides privacy on the spacious preserve amid forested hills, tranquil coves, green meadows, and spring-fed streams. All of the rental cabins are provided with electricity, telephone, water, refrigerator, stove, and air conditioning - and most cabins include a rustic fireplace and washer/dryer connections.


Slate Knob Farm is conveniently located in Rockford, TN
midway between Knoxville and Maryville:

Downtown Knoxville:  20 minutes (10.5 miles)
Downtown Maryville:  15 minutes (9.0 miles)
McGhee Tyson Airport:  12 minutes (7.6 miles)
Townsend:  35 minutes (24 miles)
Smoky Mountains NP:  40 minutes (27 miles)

The Cabins       

         
     The 16 log cabins available for rent range in size from 1 bedroom to 5 bedrooms, and they are located in a variety of settings with many cabins bordering open meadows and others completely enclosed in forest. The cabins provide comfort and solitude and all at an affordable price.

The pioneer log homes, with stone chimneys and split-rail fences, recreate an authentic Appalachian homestead.
Each of the pioneer log cabins seems to exude its own personality.
Some of the cabins are nestled at the edge of scenic meadows while others are completely enclosed in woodland.
