From the Family

The family of Randal Simmons wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of love, support and prayers that have been received from everyone around the world. The cards, flowers and words of condolences are too numerous to count. But we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the following individuals and organizations for which a simple “thank you” just isn’t enough:

 The wonderful City of Los Angeles;

 Mayor Antonio Villairagosa who knew Randy well;

 Governor Arnold Swartzenneger and his lovely wife Maria Shriver;

 Police Chief William Bratton for his touching eulogy;

 The selfless men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department who, like Randy, risk their lives for us everyday;

 The LAPD S.W.A.T team with whom Randy proudly served and truly loved; as well as The law enforcement officers, fire fighters and military personnel that flew in from every corner of the globe in a show of respect and support for their fallen comrade.

Pastor and Mrs. Alton Trimble and their daughter Joy of Glory Christian Fellowship International;

 Randy’s entire Glory Christian Fellowship International church family; and The wonderful and dedicated site leaders of Glory Kids Ministries that was particularly close to Randy’s heart; and Each and every child who touched Randy’s life and made it that much more fulfilling while he was here with us;

 Rev. and Mrs. Price for opening their hearts and their Crenshaw Christian Center Faith Dome home to us;

 Holy Cross Mortuary;

 Vocalists Mary-Mary for capturing the beauty of the moment in an amazing song;

 Rochelle Morgan-Hawkins of Morgan’s Eloquent Designs;

 Randy’s alma mater Washington State University and his beloved Mighty Cougars football team and teammates;

 Our State Farm family that has shown us unending kindness;

 Larry and Ralph Cimmarusti of Burger King who lifted our spirits at the end of a particularly trying day and for a brief moment made us forget;

 David Spade for his generosity;

 Lou Gossett Jr. for reminding us just how far-reaching Randy’s spirit is;

 Albertson’s grocery stores;

 Wolfgang Puck catering;

and Lisa Greene of Design Lounge for working tirelessly with us to create a beautiful commemorative book that gave thousands a small glimpse into the life of a man of uncommon valor and faith who will be greatly missed, but whose life and good deeds remain a living testament of what we can all aspire to be;

To each person that played a part in honoring Randy’s life on February 15, 2008; and Most especially, to all of our friends and family who did not hesitate to drop everything to be with us and who held our hands and cried with us, but never left our side, please accept our most heart-felt gratitude and deepest appreciation.

If we have overlooked anyone at all, please know that it was not our intent to forget a single kind gesture or word of encouragement bestowed upon us and we ask that you continue to pray for our family and may God bless each and everyone of you.

With our warmest regards,

 Lisa, Matthew and Gabrielle Simmons
