"The choice of the textures, harmonies and melodies
of my music, deliberately on the darker side, does
not reflect any intention of transmitting a sad mood,
but rather as a tool to open up the listener's mind.
Minor harmonies, as well as phrygian modes and
blue notes are very effective in setting up that
scene. But the fundamental underlying impressionistic
message is of strong positivism : to appreciate
the beauty of life and to shape your future yourself."
Instruments
Although synthesizers are his predominant instruments, Giacomo does also work with the human voice and guest instrumentalists. All of the melodies, harmonies, as well as the majority of the sounds are original. Sampling is very scarcely used.
Various instruments and sound generations techniques are used, including: FM, AFM, PCM, analog,... Software synthesis includes tools such as CSound and Soundhack.

Equipment
I have used so many synthesizers, computers, software that I cannot recall them all. What I know is that my first synth was an AlphaJuno2 from Roland, and the first time I hooked it up on a computer, it was an Amiga 500 running Bars & Pipes from Blue Ribbon Software... My first sampler had been crafted my an electronicia-hacker friend. Yes it sounds like it is coming from the paleolithic of the computer age ;-)
Logic Audio : a fantastic all-in-one tool
Macintosh : what would I be without my MacBook Pro ?
Soundtracker : this was the first music software I used, on Amiga, in assembler... pretty hardcore stuff
Bars & Pipes : then came B&P, which made it possible to easily edit music on a computer
Opcode Systems : Studio Vision Pro was a visionary software on Mac
Roland : Roland got me started with synths : AlphaJuno2, SH2, A-90, MC-505, JD-800, JD-990
