Three step evaluation procedure

The selection and decision-making procedure on the submitted project proposals will take place in three steps:

In a first step, the submitted project proposals will be assessed by the Steering Committee according to the general criteria (details in para. 6 of announcment). The project coordinators will receive information in writing on the results of this assessment within one month.

In a second step, the project proposals evaluated positively by the Steering Committee are assessed according to the specific assessment criteria (details in para. 6 of announcement) by an independent international Scientific Advisory Board appointed by the Steering Committee. The Scientific Advisory Board will rank the project proposals on the basis of the results of an external peer review.

In a third step, the Steering Committee will decide on the funding of the projects on the basis of the ranking established by the Scientific Advisory Board. All applicants will receive information on the results of this decision within two month after the Steering Committee's decision. The individual groups of the projects which are to be granted funding are simultaneously asked by the Steering Committee to submit a formal financial application. The applications are to be submitted to the project secretariat and simultaneously to the relevant national contact point. The project coordinator submits the collaboration contract to the project secretariat (PTJ) and the relevant national contact point.
