Typhoon, check. Earthquake, check

When I got to work today, I got an email to the effect “because of the typhoon, employees may stay at home today”. The wind and rain were blowing very hard, and even the BBC was reporting on the typhoon in Japan. I called Kayo, she’d left work early to pick up the kids, unfortunately, the trains stopped running when she was just one station from Kichijoji! I decided to wait it out in the office and I left around 8 pm. Outside my building the wind had blown the bicycles into a fabulous pile. Too dark for a picture.

After we were home and the kids were in bed, we felt an earthquake, magnitude 5, in Ibaragi.

Update On Thursday morning, this three outside my office had been uprooted.

Thanks for letting us know, Brian. We saw nothing on the nightly news about the typhoon or earthquake. Glad you are all safe.
