I'd like to remind everyone we have a little book on the St. Benedict medal on Saints' Books.

For the protection of one's home one can bury the medals at the four corners of the house. (For an apartment, use your best judgement as to where is all I know to say, do something similar either based on the apartment itself or the entire complex or both.) Cheesy

For helping with illnesses and injuries, one can keep it touched to the part of the body where the illness or trouble is.

I say have many of them around, once you realize how helpful they are. Have more than enough. Cheesy

And here're some prayers for the home:

I Consecrate My House & Novena

Most Blessed virgin, whose Heart is Sorrowful and Immaculate, we recognize Thee as the Lady and Queen of this house.
Have the kindness to preserve it from any evil; from fire, water, thunder, storms, earthquakes, from robbers, wicked people, from revolutions, war, raids, from persecution and taxes, from any other evil known by Thee.

Bless, protect, defend and preserve as Thy personal property, those who live and will live here. Keep them from adversity and misfortune, but above all preserve them from offending God. Let not a single mortal sin be ever committed in this house. And may all those who enter it work for the Glory of God, for the Reign of Jesus and Mary.

Let this house be forever consecrated to You, O Jesus and Mary. Let it be blessed with all those who inhabit it.

Amen.

Novena for Protection of your house.

1 Hail Holy Queen
7 St. Michael Prayers
9 Glory Be’s
3 “Lord Have Mercy On Us”

During the 1st World War, in France, some of the faithful Catholics were known to have this prayer tacked on their front door. These homes and residents were not harmed or invaded during the time of war.

And I will make a note that of course blessed houses should not contain things that would offend Our Lord and Our Lady, if you truly wish to keep your home a more sacred place. Of course no place should. . No place on the entire earth.. but it's good to be reminded. Cheesy

I called up Rose Scapular to get some already blessed, and this may be one of the best ways as long as they are not troubled by giving out too many. It's easier than having them blessed afterwards often enough, and the inexpensive aluminum ones, one can pick up in bulk. Cheesy

Fix not quite in yet! So much to do, so little time!

I hope no one suffered too much after they first received the St. Benedict medals. They upset the fallen angels so there can be an initial bad reaction as they find themselves losing ground.

Sigh. I was thinking of warning folks, but I simply said some prayers, then had my head in the clouds, put it on the shelf and forgot. . Possibly forgetting sourced in the wrong place too. It was difficult sending them out in the first place.

However bad the initial reaction can be, it's actually ultimately a good sign in the overall scheme of things. Their influence weakens and they lose ground.

Apologies unnecessary, Shin. God's will be done. I put one medal in my teenager's purse and kept the others at the altar till I could think of how to wear them. I think I'm going to find clasps for the rest of them, if we get them somewhere, maybe Walmart.

I remember bad things happening when I first got enrolled in the Brown Scapular. It made me pray all ther more and then great things eventually followed.
Like Padre Pio said, He's on a chain and can bark, growl and snap in the hope of intimidating us to lose heart, but if we just ignore him and pay closer attention to Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin, he will eventually lose heart and we'll receive more graces for having persevered.

Shin, I'm curious to know more about St. Benedict's medal and I'm reading about it at the link you gave us at the beginning of this thread.

Shin, I'm curious to know more about St. Benedict's medal and I'm reading about it at the link you gave us at the beginning of this thread.

It's rightly so very famous!

They can help with illnesses, touched to whatever body part is affected.. whatever kind of illness it is, though especially of course those whose source is spiritual, but not limited to. Physical illnesses, mental..

Everything really, they're a splendid sacramental.

Here is the English of the blessing from the Roman Ritual:

BLESSING OF MEDALS OF ST. BENEDICT

(Formerly reserved to the Order of St. Benedict)

The priest who is to bless the medals of St. Benedict says:

P: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.

I cast out the demon from you, creature medals, by God the Father almighty, who made the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that they contain. May all power of the adversary, all assaults and pretensions of Satan, be repulsed and driven afar from these medals, so that they may be for all who will use them a help in mind and body; in the name of the Father + almighty, of Jesus + Christ, His Son, our Lord, of the Holy + Spirit, the Advocate, and in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming to judge both the living and the dead and the world by fire.
All: Amen.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Our Father (the rest inaudibly until:)

P: And lead us not into temptation.
All: But deliver us from evil.
P: Save your servants.
All: Who trust in you, my God.
P: Let us find in you, Lord, a fortified tower.
All: In the face of the enemy.
P: The Lord will give strength to His people.
All: The Lord will bless His people with His peace.
P: Lord, send us aid from your holy place.
All: And watch over us from Sion.

P: Lord, heed my prayer.
All: And let my cry be heard by you.
P: The Lord be with you.
All: May He also be with you.

Let us pray.
Almighty God, lavish dispenser of every good, we humbly ask that by the prayers of St. Benedict you pour out your blessing + on these sacred medals, impressed with letters and signs ascribed to you. Let all who will wear them with hearts intent on good works deserve to obtain health of mind and body, your holy grace, and the indulgences that have been granted to us. And may they escape by your merciful help all attacks and wiles of the devil, and finally appear in your presence sinless and holy; through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.

Let us pray.
Lord Jesus Christ, who willed in redeeming the whole world to be born of a Virgin, to be circumcized, rejected by the Jews, betrayed with a kiss by Judas, bound in chains, crowned with thorns, pierced with nails, crucified between robbers, wounded with a lance, and to die at last on the cross; I humbly ask, by this your sacred passion, that you expel all attacks and wiles of the devil from the person who devoutly calls on your holy name, using these words and signs ascribed to you. May it please you to lead him (her) to the harbor of everlasting salvation, you who live and reign forever and ever.
All: Amen.

May the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit, come upon you and remain with you forever.
All: Amen.

The priest sprinkles the medals with holy water.

Great!!

I have a St. Benedict crucifix with a clasp that I need to fix because it's a weak clasp, and it will bend and sometimes come off. Not good!

When using the medal for any pious purpose the foll prayer can be said:

May the intercession of the Blessed Patriarch and Abbot Benedict render Thee, O Lord, merciful unto us; that what our own unworthiness cannot obtain we may receive through his powerful patronage: through Christ Our Lord.

We need all the help we can get!
