Kate and Wills memorabilia by KK Outlet

Just when you thought you had heard and, indeed, seen enough about the joyous match of Kate and Wills, someone has actually produced something worthwhile in among all the humorous tack that seems to be pervading every shelf of even reputable shops. I was in the most obscure bookshop of Tunbridge Wells in the historic Pantiles, and there among the craft-making kits, jigsaws, stationery and old-smelling books (it was rather an eclectic mix I have to admit) there I saw the beaming, touched-up faces of the handsome pair in the form of a souvenir calendar. How interesting. Anyway, back to the point, the London-based creative agency KK Outlet has actually produced porcelain with wit (yes, it’s possible) and created commemorative plates you might actually want to buy with slogans we can be truly sincere and patriotic about – like “Thanks for the free day off.” Now find me a person who isn’t thinking that. They also happen to be aesthetically pleasing and so here they are – the tack turned back on itself into something not anti-royalist, but rather something for the design-conscious who, more than likely, don’t take themselves all that seriously and don’t mind admitting they are a tiny bit excited by a spot of flag-waving.
