About

Aims

The aim of this website is to help all to have a more vibrant relationship with Jesus, through:

  • study of His Word
  • sharing how the message impacts our everyday lives
  • learning more about His will for our lives
  • learning about how God is active in our community
  • being better equipped to share His love to those we come in contact with

This site is run by Seventh Day Adventist Christians who attend the Wahroonga SDA Church, in the northern suburbs of Sydney, Australia. For more information about our church please visit this site.

The site was started as a forum for parents who are not able to make it to the senior Sabbath School lesson discussions because they are helping out with the childrens’ Sabbath Schools. We now have readers from all over the world. We welcome all to be a part of the community.

Sabbath School Lessons

A weekly Bible study is posted on this website which broadly follows the theme of the weekly Bible studies (‘Sabbath School Lessons’) put out by the SDA Church. These studies have a new theme each quarter, and can be found by clicking here. This website doesn’t aim to cover all of the material in these studies, but aims to pick out a few of the more important and practical issues which are good material for an online discussion.
From time to time this project draws thoughts from a variety of Sabbath School Podcasts which are linked below. We aim to provide references where we borrow thoughts from such sources.

Disclaimer

This website aims to uphold the truth of the Bible and the teachings of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Those of us administering this website are ‘lay people’ and openly declare that we are not theological experts. So don’t be surprised if we, or those commenting, get it wrong sometimes! We should all be like the Bereans in Acts 17, who:

… searched the Scriptures day after day to check up on Paul and Silas, to see if they were really teaching the truth.

This concept extends to where we reference or link other information sources (including the Bible study podcasts noted above). Inclusion of such source material doesn’t automatically confer our endorsement of all the teachings from these sources.

Discussion / Comments
We actively encourage all to leave a comment to contribute to the online discussion.

All you need to do is to put in any name and any email address (this can be a fictitious email address for this purpose if you’re worried about spam, although your email is never displayed on the website, it’s only for identification purposes).

To avoid spam and ‘trolling’ and to maintain a constructive discussion, we require that every commenter have their first comment moderated. This moderated blog is one where the first comment will not be displayed until a moderator manually ‘approves’ it. Approval will be granted as a matter of course unless the comment doesn’t contribute positively to the discussion. We can’t guarantee how long it will take for comments to be moderated and to appear on the website although we try to regularly check for such comments.

Once a commenter has their first comment approved, any subsequent comments will be automatically posted on the website if they use the same login name and email address.

Wahroonga SDA church members have been separately given a ‘group’ name and email address to use to bypass this mechanism.

Rules

We welcome honest and tough questions. However comments which don’t contribute positively to the discussion may be deleted by the moderators of this website at their discretion.
