Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the enforcing authorities are no longer prescriptive as they were under previous legislation, they do not tell you what to do, they just tell you where you are not compliant.

They may suggest a possible solution, but this may not always be the best option, let alone the most cost effective.
