What operating system do I need to run your programs efficiently?

In order to run all the modules within the Terrain Analysis Package (TAP)™  you must be on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.  The 3D Display module also requires that you have Microsoft .NET and DirectX.  Graphics hardware acceleration supporting DirectX version  9 is also required for running of the 3D Display. We also recommend that you keep your Microsoft operating systems on the latest updates, which can be downloaded from http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

On December 31, 2002 Microsoft (tm) ceased development and bug fixes for Windows NT™.  Development of Windows95, Windows98, and Windows2000 has also ceased.  Just as with the demise of DOS software and Windows 3.1 software,  developers can no longer support operating systems which are not supported by Microsoft.  At SoftWright we are committed to develop software using contemporary developer's tools which will make available optimum support of programming features and support of newly developed printers and plotters.   Sadly this means that both developers and customers are forced to migrate into more recently developed operating systems.   If the past is any predictor of the life expectancy of Microsoft operating systems, we might anticipate that XP and Vista will be around for several more years.
