Waving tree multi-site installation, Saltburn-on-Sea. The Corn Doll and Wattle structures are interpretations of Sidney Parkinson's botanical drawings made during Captain Cook's voyage to the south seas. The work is site specific and relates to the history of the town and Cooks early life in the region. Waving tree (left) 18' tall is situated precariously in a log jamb on the bed of a river and is modelled after an Australian Boabob tree. In the nearby Saltburn Artist Gallery a thatched Boabob with woven structures of various plant forms including a breadfruit plant and a giant leaf make an accompanying installation.
