Parks Palooza 2011

Our annual Parks Granchildren Reunion was Saturday, July 30, 2011 (which also happens to be the day Chris proposed to me in 2001)! We met again this year on Lake Travis and rented a pontoon boat so we could hang out, swim, float and of course catch up with everyone and their busy lives. This has been a great tradition we started and although we only get to see some of our cousins once a year, when we do see them, we pick right back up where our visit ended the year before, like we never even missed an entire year apart. It is so difficult to get everyone's schedules to coincide, but I am so glad we have upheld this tradition for the past 3 years. Grandpa and Grandma Parks are smiling down. I think the greatest thing you leave behind when you pass away is your legacy, and for those of us left here on earth, keeping our loved ones' memories alive is the greatest thing we can do. This is my hope for my children and grandchildren one day. For those that knew me to talk about me when I am gone, remember me often and do things that would make me smile and be proud. We love you Grandma and Grandpa Parks and we sure do miss you. A lot. There's a part of me that feels like, if I would have known the emptiness your deaths would leave in my heart, I would have spent even more time with you while you were here. I cherish all the Christmases, summer visits and trips to Lubbock to see you! Ya'll were simply one of a kind.
