	• The need to supplement coursebook listening texts • The features of spoken English which make listening so challenging for our students • English as a Lingua Franca and its implications for the design of listening materials • Selecting and grading appropriate authentic listening materials • Listening comprehension v. listening training • Guidance on writing exercises to accompany authentic listening texts

These talks are accompanied by a selection of recordings from my huge collection, illustrating the various points I make.
