This is the typical starting point with "dead" paint and advanced corrosion apparent to name but two !
Stripping down the car in order to find out just
how bad it really is and how much sound material there is left to
work with.
"If you want to make an
omelette you have to break eggs" All of the corrosion will need to be cut out and replaced with good metal in order to ensure a good result. |
Panel replacement continues - "The Emperor gets
new clothes"
Suspension, steering, brakes, engine and transmission will probably need attention too.
Although not all restoration projects involve a "body
off" job, it does make some things a lot easier.
Re-uniting the body with the rolling chassis makes it look like a car again.
Painting the body signals the beginning of the end
of the job.
Inside too if required.
Interior and exterior retrimming makes a world of
difference.
Seats, carpets, hood, dashboard and trim panels can all be replaced or refinished to add that final touch.
The finished article.
now it has all been worthwhile ! |
