Exploring

The Nuthatch provides a good base to begin exploring The New Forest, starting with Lymington itself, which is just a quarter of a mile away and is where you will find the charming old town centre, a marina, a variety of restaurants, bars and pubs and a busy Saturday market.

To enjoy all the wild and quieter byways and paths weaving across the locality, bike hire is always a possibility and available locally, but for those with good comfortable shoes, walking is always popular!

Further afield, other local villages of note are: Burley, nestling in the forest where you can go for horse-drawn wagon rides; Beaulieu, where you can visit Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and Beaulieu Motor Museum and the village itself; Buckler’s Hard on the river and not far away, Exbury Gardens. They all make for memorable day trips.

Don’t miss a boat or ferry trip across to the Isle of Wight where car-free, you can get the open top bus around the island or wander along wooded paths to the local beaches and sparkling sea.

“ A lovely week exploring the New Forest and the Nuthatch is an excellent base from which to set off each morning. Equally coming back each evening to its comfort and warmth was very welcoming especially at this time of year”
