Lymington is a small pretty coastal town with a long and rich history. It has a great variety of local amenities, restaurants and pubs to please a great mix of tastes... and not so far away, just half an hour by car, are its more vibrant and busy neighbours, Bournemouth and Southampton with many other villages in between, both by the sea and in the forest. Lymington is regarded as one of the prettiest harbours for sailors to visit on the river opposite the Isle of Wight where again, there are many popular anchorages.  The woods and forested areas surrounding Lymington and the local villages provide delightful walks. Also, for those who enjoy walking along the river edge, or along the salt flats for bird watching en route to the beaches and seaside at Keyhaven and Milford on Sea; taking a back pack with a picnic – always a great solution for family freedom…

Local amenities

The Nuthatch is an easy 450 metre walk from the town, so if you are really keen and the weather is fine, even a pre-breakfast swim is possible at the open-air sea-water swimming pool!  There is also an indoor pool at the Lymington Recreation Centre – a few minutes by car. There is the small supermarket at the local service station Somerfields, a ten minute walk, otherwise Waitrose, Tesco and M&S are all five minutes away by car.  Lymington has a good selection of restaurants and pubs – a pleasant evening stroll when you can choose between two routes, either along Marsh Lane which runs behind the Nuthatch (the flat route) to the bottom of the High Street, or along up Clinton Road across to the middle of the High Street via New Street. Half an hour’s drive going East and you have ‘Harbour Lights’ in Southampton for great films and a good shopping centre, or if you go West towards Bournemouth & Poole, beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy the sun…
