NEWS FROM THE HEART

FEBRUARY 17, 2007

On January 29th, we had our second 'Heart of the Rose' presentation held in New York City which was primarily for financial backers for the show. We performed 10 songs (Watching the Moon, Can You Imagine, You & I, Lost in the Shuffle, The Perfect Dream reprise, Glitzy Queen, Final Power, You Need Me Now, It Lives in Me and The Heart of the Rose) and once again Stan Brown and Marc Raymond were amongst the singers. They were joined this time by Karla DeVito singing Elizabeth (who originally sang the role on the CD) and also newcomer Meagan Olson sang the role of Marian. Meagan is also featured on the song, 'Restless' on Graham's forthcoming solo album, The Future. Singing the role of Robin, was Tony Harnell who was formally the lead singer of the group TNT.  Graham sang a cameo role of Tuck in the song, 'The Perfect Dream Reprise'.

Choreographers Stefanie Roos and Tiffany Olson flew in from London to be there and helped with the staging. The event was produced by Jodi Russell and was an incredible success.

The evening was held in the penthouse home of Sandie Tillotson, owner of NuSkin, in the Time Warner Building in Columbus Square and attended by 50 people from the Broadway scene.

DECEMBER 1, 2006

The Heart of the Rose was born with the birth of Robin Hood in 1290 in the small village of Wakefield in Yorkshire, England.

The myth and the legend that he became was always meant to be - to inspire generations and to give the world one of the greatest love stories imaginable. All this and so much more, and set in the romantic backdrop of Sherwood Forest. What could be more idyllic than the life surrounding the worlds greatest hero? What if the myth and the legend were stripped away, what would remain if the fantasy were dissolved and light was allowed to reveal any kernel of truth that had been hidden within for so long?

Fifteen years ago, three people set out to find that hidden truth, and the real Robin Hood. Perhaps he couldn’t be found at all, perhaps there was nothing to find, and where does one begin to look? After years of solving hidden clues, deciphering riddles set centuries ago and allowing one’s intuition to lead the way, the real Robin began to emerge. At first he was extremely shy, but with trust, he began to materialize from the misted forest, and with him his story, which was more compelling and engaging than any legend could begin to tell.

With Robin, came Marian, Little John and even the Sheriff of Nottingham, but this time they were real, very real. With the historical story revealed and captured, it seemed fitting that the music should be written by another person who was born and spent his childhood in Sherwood Forest, and who believed that Robin was much more than he appeared to be.

On November 5, 2006 excerpts from The Heart of the Rose were presented live in Chicago, IL to a small and select audience who waited with baited breath for the lights and sound to tell the story that until now, no-one knew. The Heart of the Rose has been born, the first breath taken on that full-moon night in Chicago.

The double CD package of the original cast recordings of The Heart of the Rose was released in the summer of 2002, selling out in months. This CD has certainly become a collector's item, especially the first 1000 copies that were personally signed by Graham.
