Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 20 Jun 2009 - Strongman Push Sled and Strongman Supplementary Series - Tug Of War

Something ominous and malicious descended upon the Behemoths’ Lair on 20 June 2009.

The Behemoths present for the session that day were inflicted with a new type of "virus" which is fast acting - indeed symptoms occur almost immediately.

We call it the "Push Sled Wipeout".

Its symptoms include fatigue, exaustion and the tendency to not stand upright after a set.

More severely, you may expect to lose your last meal involuntarily through your mouth, lie down flat for over 15 minutes or even just lose the gumption to continue training for the day.

Insofar as its symptoms may sound nasty, once you recover from this ailment (and everyone does), you can expect tremendous benefits accruing from it.

They include greater work capacity, better conditioning and recovery from training, better cardiovascular health, elevated tolerance for lactic acid buildup, toned arms and STRONGER LEGS!

We shall let the pictures show the aftermath of the Push Sled Sprints wipeout pandemic.

Bryan made speedy recovery though.
As did all of the subjects and all are STRONGER for it!
But what can we say about Push Sled Sprints?

Strong(Wo)man Spotlight

Amazingly, the sole member who wasn’t terribly affected by the "Push Sled Wipeout" was a female.

Angelina Tan, a first tier competitor in the Singapore bodybuilding and fitness fraternity.

She hardly broke a sweat while she did her Push Sled Sprints.

After making several heavy and fast passes, she even managed to break into a big smile for our cameras-a testament to her relative immunity to the nasty Push Sled and superb conditioning!

Congratulations Angelina for making the Strong(wo)man Spotlight yours this week!

Strongman Supplementary Series - Tug Of War

Though the main aim of our training sessions is for our members to get better in the Strongman events and Powerlifting, we also engage in such physical activities as Shot Put,Tug Of War etc, as a useful adjunct.

Having taken part in the 1st Singapore Athletic Association Tug of War Competition last year, we found it to be a most enriching experience because not only did we exchange blows with the best tug of war teams in the land, but we also made new friends from Hong Kong(which sent its national team to participate). Our newer members now relish the chance to compete and we are preparing them for it!

Sam shows how to optimise forearm and grip strength. Yes, Tug Of War kills on that count.

Captain Yosh and his Crew prevailed in that round!

Whether you're coming to give his Yoshinettes a run for their money in Tug of War
or to prove you're immune to Push Sleds Sprints. come knowing you'll be having a fun time getting STRONGER together with us!
Every Saturday Hong Lim Park (Clarke Quay MRT Exit A) 12pm onwards.
