Do We Really Know the Cost of Water?

According to the United Nations, around 1.2 billion people, or almost one-fifth of the world’s population, live in areas of physical water scarcity, and 500 million people are approaching this situation.[i] However, an even more troubling statistic is that another 1.6 billion people, or almost one quarter of the world’s population, face economic water shortage – this is largely due to both severe weather patterns and the infrastructural inability for countries and governments to effectively take water from rivers, aquifers and other sources, and deliver it to the consistently growing list of end users (i.e. household water consumers).

Thames Water and TaKaDu receive IWA’s Sustainability Prize

As the IWA World Water Congress wraps up in Montreal, we are enthusiastic about the great recognition Thames Water and TaKaDu have received from the IWA’s Sustanability Specialty Group.

The 2010 Sustainability prize was given for innovation in the practical realization of sustainable urban water management, recognizing the implementation of TaKaDu’s Water Infrastructure Monitoring at Thames Water, in the UK.

Talking about the Future of Water Networks: Smart Water Industry Forum in IWA

This morning TaKaDu chaired an IWA Industry Forum entitled “Smart Water Networks: Data-driven solutions for water networks management”. We were joined by executives from three solution vendors from across the value chain: Telvent – a leader in data aggregation and visualization, Echologics – a pioneer in advanced acoustic analysis, and Hetek – a Canadian resource-loss management provider. Our own Haggai Scolnicov, TaKaDu’s CTO, represented the Water Infrastructure Monitoring angle in this lively discussion.
