The map above shows the path taken by Maceo, Gomez and Los Mambises in one of the greatest chapters from Cuban history. Outnumbered, outmanned, but never outclassed, the Liberation Army began The Western Invasion on October 22, 1895, entering Havana on January 1, 1896, amidst Spanish newspaper headlines that the rebels had “turned back.”
