Healthy Habits

Healthy Habits

We all lead busy lives.

So building walking and cycling into your daily routine is the best way to develop healthy travel habits.

The Healthy Habits project is designed to encourage local people to walk and cycle more as part of their everyday journeys. Blue route signs and standalone maps are in towns across East Dunbartonshire to highlight the best way to local facilities and the time it takes. We’ve also prepared some handy pocket-sized maps that you can download here or pick up in your local community (Kirkintilloch and Lenzie, Milngavie, Bearsden, Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown at present). Why not take a look at the East Dunbartonshire Walking and Cycling map to explore the local area further? The map also gives lots of handy hints and tips as well as highlighting points of interest across East Dunbartonshire.

It is our aim to continue developing the signing and mappings initiative across East Dunbartonshire to help people don their walking shoes and get on their bikes for everyday trips. Not only to improve their health but that of their local communities too.

East Dunbartonshire is well known for its fabulous network of excellent routes like the Forth Clyde Canal, Bears Way, Allander Way and Strathkelvin Railway Path but also for quiet residential streets and local paths that can get you to get to the shops, train station and town centre. Keep an eye out for the blue route signs and standalone maps in your area to find out just how close local facilities are.

Go on!  What’s stopping you from getting into the Healthy Habit?
