MailOnline, the world's number one: We're the biggest newspaper website with 45.348 million unique users
The Mail’s website MailOnline is now the world’s biggest newspaper website.
According to new figures from Comscore, the ‘gold standard’ web measurement firm, in December 2011 MailOnline recorded 45.348million unique visitors.
The next closest newspaper was the New York Times which had 44.787million unique users.

The global survey also rated MailOnline well ahead of the BBC News website.
According to Comscore, MailOnline had 5.3million visitors a day, while the BBC News service received just 4.25million.
The result is another landmark in the evolution of MailOnline, which was already Britain’s most popular newspaper website by far.
Drawing upon the strengths of the Daily Mail newspaper, over the past three and a half years MailOnline has re-invented popular journalism for the digital era.
The site has become renowned for its unique mix of breaking news, fascinating feature projects, unbeatable pictures and brilliant coverage of the entertainment world.
Meanwhile, its growth shows no sign of slowing down, as it attracts more and more followers around the globe.
Indeed the opening of new editorial offices in New York and Los Angeles have within months made MailOnline the fifth biggest newspaper amongst U.S. readers, according to Comscore.
