Press Releases
A well-crafted press release can help to promote your new product or service, an innovation or item of business news.
Written in the correct format, it can be taken up by a wide range of farming publications and websites which appeal to your target readership.
I also write for the farming press on a freelance basis, and my input can increase the likelihood of your company/product/service being featured.
I will usually advise the inclusion of a farmer case study, where appropriate, as it can increase the article's appeal.
I am a regular freelance contributor to the following publications: Farmers Guardian; The Northern Farmer (sister paper to the Scottish Farmer); Dairy Farmer magazine; British Dairying; the British Limousin Cattle Society magazine; Cow Management.
Many of my commissions are livestock-based and include veterinary articles. However, I also write a monthly arable feature for the Northern Farmer.
In addition, I produce a quarterly six-page newsletter for my clients, KWS Maize (plant breeding company).
I have also had editorial content published in the Farmers Weekly, the NFU magazine (British Farmer and Grower); the Blue-faced Sheep Breeders Association publication; Farmers Guide; Farm Business; Agronomist and Arable Magazine and many others.
My main PR client is KWS Maize (plant breeding company), based near Chepstow. Articles written on behalf of this excellent firm have appeared in all of the relevant major farming titles (see editorial content). I mainly work remotely in this role.
I limit the number of PR clients I take on, as I feel that my 'day job' writing commissioned articles for the farming press should remain a priority. However I do have one space for a new client at present.
In general, I take my own high resolution shots, but will also bring in a well-respected, specialist agricultural photographer, if the situation demands. John Eveson is always my first choice, as he is dependable, punctual and polite, with a broad understanding of all agricultural sectors and a great eye for a good picture. www.johneveson.com
