if the shoe fits....drive it!

OMG...it has been too long since I added a new post here. I am sorry bloggers. I've been exploring different ideas to make this blog a better one for all of us. I am not quite there yet, but here is a good one for you (I hope):

I friend gave me a newspaper clip with a "unique" picture (see below) of a shoe; or should I say a car? I went online and found the source of it: car designer Sudhakar Yadav is the guy behind the wheel or is it the heel? He is from India and drove it in Hyderabad to mark International Women's Day at the beginning of March. The vehicle has a top speed of 45 km/h.

Would you dare drive it?

The best way to ring in 2012 ...

yes, we are talking shoes! new year, new shoes, new you... doesn't it sound like a perfect plan? what about re-inventing your wardobre with just one pair of shoes for several outfits? How? well, what about starting with picking your style?

Let's start with a pair of booties (neutral colours - like nude/beige/caramel/camel). Pair it with leggings, skinny jeans, mini skirts and above the knee dresses. Now, what about a pair of wedges? wear it with any outfit, as a matter of fact. They add spunk to anything you wear. Experiment with a black one.

Are you an 'office sole'? if so, you must have a pair of slingbacks...can't go wrong there. Colour? keep it neutral again with natural tones. Don't forget those gourgeous stilletos, though. They dress up any outfit; or try a casual look with an oversized sweater... go bold and buy a blue or red one. Since you are going bold, try colourblocking (maybe). They are the perfect heel to take you from day to night and add a pop of colour!

Looking for a simple look? Ankle boots are for you.

Welcome to 2012!

Greetings to all Women with a Brazilian Soul (no matter where you live!)

As we approach this holiday season, I want to extend best wishes to you and your families.  I, also, want to share with you a quote from the author Marianne Williamson, which has been an inspiration to me in my personal quest to become remarkable.

Celebrate the Joyful Sounds, the beautiful Sights and the sweet Smells of Christmas: celebrate the Season in Every Sense!
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be?” Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.” Marianne Williamson

Wishing you a safe, happy and prosperous 2012!

How to wear red shoes?

Most women love red shoes, but end up not buying them because they are not sure how to wear them.

In addition to sexing up a suit'y sheath dress, we've come up with a bunch of different ways to dress them down (but not out) with cute jeans and a boho-glam coat, with a sexy kimono top and print coat for looking tres artiste, with an animal print, and paired with a swishy wide legged pant in grape silk for an offbeat color mix.

WITH CUTE ROLLED-UP BOYFRIEND JEANS & FUR CAR COAT:

WITH KHAKI, BURGUNDY & LEOPARD:

WITH A SIMILAR-TONED WRAP TOP & BOLD PRINT COAT:

WITH SHADES OF GRAPE & MAGENTA:

Once you start getting creative with all the different looks you can build around them, you might even have to force yourself to spread the love amongst all the other gazillion shoes in your closet collecting dust so they don't get too jealous.

Now, Put your red shoes on and dance the blues!

Ballroom Blitz

I just had my first ballroom competition this past Saturday. It was very scary, but so much fun. I absolutely love ballroom dancing. Knowing the moves and the time of your steps is very important...but don't forget the shoes... if your feet are hurting, I can guarantee you will not be able to dance. Let alone enjoy it!

What style I danced? Standard: waltz and tango and Latin (cha cha cha and jive). what shoes I wore? Latin shoes: scarlet, sassy and made to move - what is not to love? The perfect party shoe makes your heart dance before your feet do. It is true!

Did you know that the native American Hopi tribe had a saying: "To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak." What more encouragement could a girl need to slip on her favorite pair of (dancing) shoes?

Maybe sometimes, just sometimes, you want your shoes to be so high, so slim-fitting, and so precarious that it is your companion who can hardly breathe... so parisienne - isn't it? I wish they could be "that" hight for ballroom competition.

I had to wear closed toe for the standard competition or I can put it this way: renowned courtesan, super spy and seductress extraordinaire, the legendary Mata Hari knew the value of a ballroom "slipper"; she said, "the dance is a poem of which each movement is a word." So inspirational!

Walk to happiness - ruffles, ties, and a touch of textured pattern can't fail a lift of the spirits.

Fall in love...

Shoe Buzz...

It is great to be back writing this blog and share the Fall / Winter 2011-2012 Shoe Trends with all of you!

Shoes are as diverse as ever so that every woman could find something for herself. If we speak about the color scheme, then the trendiest tones for the upcoming fashion season are: black, white, stone, metallic, beige, burgundy, dark blue, chocolate, deep violet, khaki and red. Bright hues are scarce, which is normal as we prefer wearing darker colors during autumn and winter.

Materials that prevail in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 shoe collections include: ordinary leather, patent and reptile skins, suede and satin. There is also a lot lace and occasional fur this season.

This is just a short preview of what is about to hit the stores... for now, enjoy the rest of the summer and the fantastic sales on our website at www.brazilianshoebox.com
