A chilly night where skies clear, with some fog patches.
Staying generally cloudy across the north of the UK through this evening and overnight, with outbreaks of rain continuing to ease. Clear spells in the south allowing temperatures to dip away and some patches of mist and fog to form.
A cool start with fog patches clearing, but lingering on some coasts. Widely dry with warm sunny spells. Showery rain in the east and rain arriving in the west later.
Rain pushing northeast on Sunday, with heavy thundery showers for some. Heavy showers in the northeast on Monday, but drier in the southwest. Remaining unsettled into Tuesday.
Updated:
The period is likely to start off on a fairly unsettled note, with cloud, areas of rain and showers, but predominantly focussed in the west, whilst eastern areas remains somewhat drier. Showers are likely to spread to all areas towards the back end of next week, with a gradual drying trend from the west or southwest over the weekend (if not before). There are no particularly strong signals for the following week, which is fairly typical at this range at this time of year, with the chances of unsettled vs settled weather types being roughly equal. Temperatures are expected to be around to a little above average throughout, despite potentially starting off on the cool side.
Updated:
Current indications are that the chances of settled and unsettled weather are fairly balanced for this period. As a result, there is a quite similar likelihood of either dry or wet conditions being the more prominent feature of the weather. Despite this, temperatures have more chance of being above the average expected at this time of year.
