The owner would not give me my unsold shoes back nor did she have record of selling them. No wonder this business closed. Very deceptive.

I brought in a beautiful pair of black Fendi boots for consignment and I greeted by the owner. She was very friendly and very informative on explaining the whole process as I had never put anything on consignment before.

About 10 days later, I popped in to the store to see if I could find a new dress for the opera. Much to my surprise, I found the perfect red satin strapless gown that fit like a glove, a pair of black strappy heels and earrings to complete the look.

When I went to the register, the owner welcomed me back. She said she was happy to see that dress find a new home. She also let me know my boots I had consigned had sold earlier that day and I would receive a check shortly.

I absolutely loved my experience at Bis and I plan on doing a lot more business there.

TL, DR: they didn't sell any of the three items I dropped off, AND they lost my dust bags. In addition, they were extremely patronizing when I objected to their loss of the dust bags. I would never spend money here, and I advise you not to either.

I wouldn't consign here or anywhere else again based on my experiences at Bis Designer resale. I've eventually managed to sell anything that was rejected by resellers and consignment shops myself via direct online services (not naming them here for reasons of privacy.)

In December I dropped off a pair of Bettye Mueller suede Mary Janes, a Sigerson Morrison black bag, and an Alexis Bittar bracelet. The condition was fair enough that they accepted the things in the first place. The experience of consigning is honestly never pleasant. The consigners judge your once-valued items, but it feels like they're judging you, and I always come away feeling small.

I brought the shoes and the bags in with their original dust bags. Bis Designer Resale lost the dust bags and didn't seem to care at all.

I checked in three months later to see what had sold. Nothing had. Ok, fair enough. But I always take good care of my things, and store shoes and bags in their original boxes and dust bags. They couldn't have cared less. Most online resellers will mention "original dust bag and box included" as a selling point in their product, I assume as a demonstration that the items have been well-cared for.

I am very miffed that they lost my dust bags, by their incredibly dismissive attitude. True, I had two things by minor designers, one of whom no longer makes bags, but it's been my even well-loved Bittar moves like hot cakes online so long as you price it to reflect fair vs. good condition. Nobody will hustle on behalf of your things the way you can, least of all the sales staff at Bis. Perhaps the experience would be different had I been there to sell--or, better yet, buy--a Chanel or Hermes bag. But I can tell everything I need to know about a place by how they treat "the little people."

I have no idea what the shopping experience is like at Bis. I do most of my shopping online or at sample sales. My willingness to give the consignment shopping experience a try was predicated on a pleasant and fruitful consignor experience, and my interactions here were anything but. I didn't feel tempted to look at the merchandise, and I found the atmosphere claustrophobic and ponderous. But, one person's "claustrophobic" is another person's "cozy."

A scam for consignors. Do not trust these people with your items. I consigned several items over six months ago. Whenever I've inquired about the items, the owner brushes me off, telling me she'll "check the records" and get back to me. She's never gotten back to me. I don't know if she's a scam-artist or if she's just wildly disorganized. To this day, seven or eight months later, I've never gotten a single update despite multiple inquiries.

Hmm. Not quite sure what to do here. I dropped off 3 Prada items, 1 Marc Jacobs and 1 TSE dress in 2013. I have called (the owner has to help you, please call back) and stopped by the store (the owner has to help you, she is not here), every few months since then with my latest visit (leaving my telephone number and a note) on June 16th, 2015, and the owner still has yet to return my phone call.

Did you sell my Prada sleevless dress? Prada skirt? Prada scoop-neck dress? It shouldn't have been too hard. My address is on the agreement slip; I was never sent a check.

Did you want to call me? My telephone number is on my agreement slip.

      Something smells fishy...and I am a vegetarian.

If you'd like to shop at Bis, I suggest having either a thick skin, or a thin waist, because the sales clerks aren't particularly kind.

They've got a decent selection of designer merchandise, though most of it is rather conservative -- think Ralph Lauren purple label dress pants, TSE cashmere turtlenecks in beige, Chanel or Burberry worn without irony. However, on the rack of mostly black evening gowns, there was a gorgeous Chloe dress. Emerald green. From the Fall 04 runway show. $2300 originally. $500 at Bis, marked down to $400.

Jesus. People pay $400 for Laundry. Or BCBG.

And the saleslady promptly took it out of my hand. "It's too small for you."

Certainly. I'm a size 6, and this was a french 36 -- so more like a 4 or a 2. But I believe in the magical power of alterations, and I told the woman as much.

"To alter it would ruin it. This is a runway piece, it is for models," she said, putting the dress back on the rack. "It is not for you." Ouch.

I spent ten minutes convincing her to let me try it on, ("You will ruin it!") and then convincing her that my tailor at home was capable of letting out the seams. When I pointed out that the dress had obviously been in their shop for a while if it had been marked down so much, she finally took it to the register.

"Wear it in good health," she sniffed.

I'm not particularly happy that Bis has my money (their other employees were frosty, as well) but I'm awfully glad to have the dress.

I work in TV and film and I always find the best designer pieces for a fraction of the price! Since our budgets can't afford full retail designer, Bis is the next best thing with great quality pieces. Will definitely come for myself next time (and for other jobs)!!

I consigned items with this store and have never been paid. I've been told that my items did sell and that I must "wait" for my check. Each time I get a new excuse as to why they aren't sending me a check. When I looked here at Yelp to see that other sellers have had the same problem, I felt compelled to chime in. Do not consign here. You may never see your items again or your money.

I have bought and sold clothing there. Buying clothes there....high end clothing with fair Resale prices (not bargains). They know their stuff. The bad news about reselling: I did not contact them right away as I was out of town. They never gave me my money or my clothing back. I did lose the receipt but as a company they should have their records. I know i keep my records with my clients. They do have disclaimer saying if you don't contact them in 3 months the money ( or clothing is theres to keep). Unfortunately, I did not see that. So, for keeping my clothing and money I took off 2 stars.....otherwise I would have given them 5.
The other girl who said they have cold demeaners is right. The people who work there are ok, just not warm and friendly.

I have gone to Bis twice now as I am from Canada. Since I discovered this shop on my last trip to NYC I always try to make a stop in this shop. Although the sales staff is a little rigid Saif the huskier Russian woman with the thick accent (she makes me want to pour a cup of tea and spend the whole day there chatting with her) the stock is good. Items are selective and even though they seem at first glance to be pricey they are competitive with the other designer vintage shops. My suggestion is stop in and take a look. Ask the fire haired Russian for a hand she has a good eye and will make it an experience to remember at the very least.
