Story
Job done, for now. Many thanks to all those that were at the finish to welcome me back. 200 miles, 50 hours 25 mins across footpaths from the Olympic Stadium, Stratford to BC. Had a great time.
Hope we can make the fundraising target.
Just calculated the total distances with just over 3 miles to go tomorrow. 195 miles 49 hours 21 minutes travelling. Egton to BC left, will start the last mile at 3-30 at the mile post on Stank Lane. Everyone welcome but there is no parking on the narrow lane, best park at college and walk up.
Nine days into the challenge and back in the Shire. 170 miles ish already covered and about 20 to go. Cruised 21 miles today in about 5.5 hours. Not a single blister and left knee is coping fantastically. Join in my last mile, 3-30 pm on Tuesday 3rd August starting from mile post in Stank Lane, and finishing by the Bish at the College.
The last couple of weeks up to my challenge have seen training going really well. Longest run 5 hours 20 minutes, last weekend was my last long run an easy 2 hours 20 minutes from Little Stretton to Clun, 17 miles over the Long Mynd. I am really excited about the run and looking forward to passing through plenty of places I have never visitied before. Just a little worried about all the Ordnance Survey maps I will have to run through.......
Why am I doing the run....well ask any child, What do you really want to do in your life, what you really really want to do? Chances are they won't know. I have asked hundreds. 21st Century Legacy is a charity founded by Olympian David Hemery that wants to change this. Working in schools, intially throughout the UK, the charity is running the "be the best you can be programme" to inspire children to have aspirations and give them the skills to reach them.
I am running from the 2012 main Olympic Stadium to my College in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, approx 170 miles, to raise money and link the Games with our county. I also want to show the students what can be done if you have the will to achieve.
Please donate whatever you feel able and ask your local school if they want to be part of the project.
