This year marks the 10th anniversary of Let’s Get Ready in Philadelphia! For the past decade, LGR has provided near-peer coaching to support students across the city and surrounding regions. We currently support more than 1,500 students in Philadelphia and surrounding regions.
On April 24, a close knit group of regional leaders in education, government, and philanthropy came together with our coaches, students, staff, and board for a commemorative cocktail reception. The energy was amazing! In Philadelphia students who participate in LGR’s program from high school through college, graduate from college at 3x the rate of their peers.
We are most grateful to our event chair, Dr. Stacy Holland, Executive Director of @elevate_215 , for her support, collaboration, and leadership. Also thank you to our guest speaker, Luvonda Fuller (@queen.luvonda ), an LGR, @philly_schools , and @rosemontcollege alum for inspiring us and reminding us why this work is valuable.
Thank you, Philly. Cheers to our next decade in the city!
April 25, 2024, will be a day etched in history for @lgrforcollege! We have officially partnered with the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (@cscunews) system to bring our near-peer coaching program to 10,000 students in the next three years–the largest partnership in our 26-year history!
The @ecmcfoundation’s unwavering support makes this groundbreaking partnership possible, and we are grateful for their investment in our approach to systemic change.
On April 18, 2024, we hosted a special gathering to celebrate this exciting initiative. This event brought together a select group of educational and philanthropic partners from across the state for an early announcement of our partnership. The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion on the importance of this collaboration, featuring CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng, Connecticut State Community College President Dr. O. John Maduko, Jonathan T. Reid, Program Officer at the ECMC Foundation, and Dr. Amy Hubbard, Executive Director of the University of Maine System (UMS) Early College program and moderated by Jordan Wesley, MSW, LGR’s Managing Director of Partnerships.
As we launch in Fall 2024, please expect more details on this transformational partnership in the coming months!
