Well, we have three successful Club events under our belt, and already planning ahead for 2025. Spring Meeting (South) will take place at Hartsfield Manor once again, at the slightly later date of May 11 (to hopefully avoid the April showers), and we are hoping to fix a date for the CBR Technical Masterclass soon. Our first Spring North Meeting took place at the Renaissance at Kelham Hall and we were all blown away by the venue, which was gorgeous, inside and out. The weather wasn’t bad either! There will be a full report and photos in a later issue. We are hoping to add this to the calendar for 2025.
Highlights this month include another heart-warming pedal car story, part one of an American tour feature, a celebration of Backwater Tours and a conversation with renowned motoring artis, Michal Turner.
A tale of two restorations
A Club member entrusted his E-type to CMC for various work and was pleasantly surprised that his son’s pedal car also received a full restoration
I bought my 1967 4.2 OTS Series 1 E-type from CMC in 2015. It was in good condition at that point and drove superbly, but was not quite in the colour scheme I preferred. The car already had a five-speed-gearbox upgrade and I had also asked CMC to fit power steering for me, which made it much easier to drive and meant that my wife, Rachel, could also enjoy driving it. We used the car for a while, and during that time we participated in a recreation of scenes from The Italian Job at the internationally famous Bromyard Speed Festival, Herefordshire, where I ended up giving the Mayoress a ride around the route as a passenger...
Since its founding in 2004, the E-type Club has gone from strength to strength and we now have members in over 50 countries...
What makes the E-type Club different is that we focus 100% on E-types.
There are several excellent Jaguar clubs but they have to cover a vast range of cars and interests from pre-war through to the current range. Naturally, they cannot concentrate on just one model...
RM Sotheby’s offer two E-types for sale at Dare to Dream auction in Toronto
Two E-types will be up for sale at the Dare to Dream Collection sale at the collection’s home in the heart of Toronto on 1 June. The first, a 1965 Series 1 4.2-litre FHC, left the factory for the US in October 1964. Now finished in British Racing Green over a cognac leather interior, this car was the recipient of a concours-quality rotisserie restoration in 2009. As such, the car is in spectacular condition today. In 2013, the car entered the Dare to Dream Collection, and an invoice on file shows the carburettors were rebuilt in 2019. At the same time, the electrical system was also serviced. Offered without reserve, the estimate is US$120,000–$160,000. The second car is a 1966 Series 1 4.2-litre Roadster with a documented history, including nearly four decades of single-family ownership. The car is a three-time 100-point Jaguar Club of North America National Champion. Supplied to Oceana...
Apart from the emotional aspects, there are a number of hard-headed reasons to buy an E-type.
Reliability – there is no point in owning a classic car unless you can use and enjoy it, and do so with confidence that it is not going to let you down. All the E-type’s mechanical components were used in the higher volume saloon...
XKEDATA.com is a project to help people find information about a particular car or series of cars by serial number.
This site welcomes participation from anyone interested in these cars. We aren't experts, but there is also no exclusivity to the data hosted here. You don't have to be a member to list a car.
If a site user sees a car with such-and-such car number in a classified ad that's what will be entered. It's all that's known at that point. But over time, hopefully more information will be added, corrections will be made, and at the end of the day we'll know a bit more about a particular car than we would otherwise.
