Joeyisms

This weekend Pastor Joey shared a compelling message of how he sees church. Here are a few takeaways and a few humorous statements made that I thought everyone would enjoy...

"We're here to help people."
"I need your help. I want to team together to create a place where God can show up and people want to be there."
"I love the Church."
"The church is not a building."
"You don't go to church--you are the church!"
"The church is what's sitting next to you."
"It's not what it looks like on the outside of the building, it's what the people look like."
"Atmosphere is the heart you worship with!"
"I had shaped myself by what the church said I should look like instead of what the Word of God says I should look like."
"America is the 3rd largest unreached people group in the world" (According to some mission agencies)
"100 million people in America don't attend church, 87% of them have been to before, but don't go now."
"I don't confront people, I share the Word of God, the Spirit of God confronts people."
"My dream is to drive up at church and see people tailgating in the parking lot waiting for church to start."
"Church is not about where you came from it's about your heart."
"That's why I try to go out and greet people when I'm not injured from all my special forces missions."
"We're a place where thirsty people can get a drink."
"Whoever is thirsty!"
"I believe church should be relevant."
"I had some 'issues'."
"What you believe to be true will be true for you."
"People will treat you the way you act."
"We take our opinions and make them God's thoughts."
"It's not what you do--it's who you are."
"Church is not an event--it's an everyday lifestyle."
"The most dangerous spot for anybody to be in is where nobody can tell you no."
"I really believe that God can do miracles."
"I believe that nothing is impossible with God."
"We got caught up in the style and miss the truth."
"I learned that if you're not anointed just be short and funny and I don't mean like Pastor Ric."
"I believe the church is powerful."
"You know the rules, but your heart's not there--it's called religion.
"If the devil was here I would just bite him. You know you've gone old school when you don't want to fight you just want to bite somebody."
"We can be so formal that we miss God."
"You're more important than what you do."
"God wants to have a relationship with you!"
"God is madly in love with you!"
"What can we do around this area?"

Can't wait til next week to see what God's going to do through the You Are Series. Make sure you're here and don't miss the opportunity to win an Ipod Touch.

Pastor Appreciation

I can't wait for this weekend my favorite speaker other than Pastor Joey of course will be here this weekend at our church...Dr. Sam Chand will be speaking at all three services for Pastor Appreciation. If you've never heard Dr. Chand speak, then you need to make a point to be here, if you have then you know! Most importantly though we get to celebrate Pastor Appreciation for the best Pastor in the world. I'm glad I get to serve alongside Pastor Joey, he's made a huge difference in my life and I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for him believing in me and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. From the bottom of my heart thanks Pastor...you're the greatest! I can't wait to see what God is going to do in and through you, in the next few years....the best is yet to come!

Fall Picnic

So today was a huge success! We hosted our annual Fall Picnic at Destiny. We had gumbo, chili & hotdogs....lots of inflatables...and most importantly time with our friends. I have to say this was our best picnic we've had in the last 8 years of doing these. Over 1000 people joined us in our celebration and it would not have happened if it wasn't for the wonderful job Tiffany Rodriquez did in putting a team together to make it happen. She deserves many many kudos!!!!
