Residents invited to have their say on town plans
RESIDENTS are being asked about their ideas in shaping the town after it was revealed Barnsley will receive £20m in funding over the next decade.
The government announced in October 2023 a new Long-Term Plan for Towns which brings together community leaders, business people, and local organisations to improve Barnsley’s future together.
The funding is set to be used to improves areas such as the town centre, Dearne Valley Park, Oakwell, the Metrodome and Barnsley...
Bus numbers hit record low
THE number of buses and coaches using Barnsley’s roads is at a record low, new figures have revealed.
Department for Transport figures show 616 buses and coaches were licensed in Barnsley at the end of 2023.
This was down from 620 the year before, and represented a significant fall of 26 per cent since 2014, slumping to the lowest figure of any year over the last ten years.

THE silver screen has come to life at Cannon Hall Museum thanks to a star-studded exhibition’s arrival.

A TEAM for visually-impaired youngsters hoping to get into football has received support from Barnsley FC.
Barnsley Blind Football Club - run by the non-profit organisation Focus4Vision - is offering blind and visually impaired children between the ages of five and seven a chance to try out football.
The club is hoping to promote further opportunities for disabled children, and over the last 20 weeks have been introducing them to the basics.

Oliver Rowland suffered a disappointing weekend in the Formula E meeting in Shanghai as he slipped further off the lead in the championship.
