Nepenthe and The Phoenix Shop are open!

Please be sure to check current road conditions prior to travel to Big Sur.
At this time, access to Big Sur on Highway 1 is limited to two convoy periods through the
Rocky Creek Bridge area; one at 7 AM and the other at 5 PM.

IMPORTANT- We strongly recommend that all guests arrive at convoy staging areas at beginning of convoy periods to ensure access and reduce delays in the full re-opening of Highway 1. Convoy staging area for south bound guests, coming into Big Sur, is at Palo Colorado Canyon and for north bound guests, leaving Big Sur, is just south of Bixby Creek Bridge.

Additionally, all guests who come into Big Sur for the day via the 7 AM convoy will not have opportunity to leave Big Sur until 5 Pm convoy. All guests who come into Big Sur on the 5 PM convoy should have a confirmed room or campsite reservation to ensure they have overnight accommodations as next opportunity to leave Big Sur will be on following morning’s 7 AM convoy.

Please be aware that in the event of a medical emergency, there may be extended delays in response time from first responders in this period, so it is important to be properly prepared when hiking and visiting beaches and to use common sense while enjoying your Big Sur experience.
