Well that's pretty good then John. A quad of nice bikes to keep you happy, and use of your old mk1 without the maintenance. Not bad at all. 🙂.

Thanks all. Yes, its a bit strange not having a car in one or both of my garages! Even stranger going to Donington at the weekend to watch the race series Id been doing. Three of us had almost identical looking red and white Spridgets and it wasnt nice seeing only two.

    Anam, the bikes are:

    1939 Triumph 2H
    1951 Norton 500T
    1968 BSA B40 WD
    1974 Honda TL125

Slight thread hijack - what colours were offered for Australian produced Midgets? How does this compared to the UK produced cars which depending on age/model/year might have had some of these: https://www.mgexp.com/article/bmc-bl-paint-codes-and-colors.67? & https://members.tripod.com/prev_pdljmpr/color.htm

    Cheers

    John

Great to hear from you. Sorry to hear you are now Spridgetless but glad you are having fun with classic bikes instead and intend to pop back occasionally on the BBS. Classic bike fixing seems a perfect NMC topic - bet there are others on here with old motorbike experience.

Thanks for all the help, advice and encouragement.

    Cheers
    Mike

In both versions, it appears to be about mid point to the crescent that the rubber insert fits to. Not quite clear on your photo Mike, but it looks like a different casting number so maybe a revision of the body rather than an alteration?

  • Bill Bretherton14 May 2024

I reckon that would work Mike as long as the angle is correct.

  • GuyW14 May 2024

Thanks Willy. I'm still not sure why you would call Celly (cellulose) Acrylic, if that's what you mean. Acrylic to me is something different!

Maybe true cellulose is no longer available to you? It was theoretically withdrawn in the UK over 10 years ago, but remains readily available due to a loophole allowing use on historic vehicles. No real definition there about what an historic vehicl...

It seems to do this periodically.

Oddly though the original thread does not show up in my list, only these two comments.

  • Mike Fairclough14 May 2024

That's really helpful thanks Bill , it looks like someone has replaced the lug with a pin , maybe it broke off at some point . I'm hoping it will still work . I have uploaded a clearer picture hopefully.
