I come home from the field,

to a dream everyday.

A dream to do better,

than what we are today.

I see my mother toil,

and father work like a machine,

to earn that bread we live on,

and pull on with life as it’s been.

Help A Child to Study,

is a project that has given me hope.

to fulfill my desire to learn further,

to help my family cope.

Cope with the finances we could not otherwise afford,

To bear half of the burden and lessen the load.

Providing a Gift to the family,

A Gift of Education.

A gift that is not luxury,

but has only developed the Nation.

I too can now believe,

in a life of dignity

A life that many like me desire,

to leave the shackles of poverty.

I too now can trust,

my parents wouldn’t have to slog any longer,

and in a few years when I become a Pharmacist,

This dream will only get power.

     – Student of Help A Child

They do not lack determination or talent, what they lack is only skill and an opportunity to give their best.

As supporters to our fellow brothers and sisters, we can help them to get equal opportunity to prove themselves and establish their lives through Education. To have a better life and good future for their children.

Workshop on Total Quality Of Life

Earlier this month we had a workshop on Total Quality of Life at Dharwad. The workshop was organized for Degree and Post Graduate Students in association with NGO CONNECT, Dharwad.

The workshop as divided into four sessions:

First Session was on importance of concentration and how it helps to improve the process of thinking. Also, a small film was shown which gave a message of sharing happiness; caring for others without any expectations.

The second session included importance of Values and ethics in life.  They also specified on  attitude of students towards education and how it has helped to improve life of students and their families.

The third session was of group activity, where three students were paired  in a group and were given a game to play. One student had to decide his where he/she wants to reach in the specified area and his/her eyes were closed with a handkerchief. The other two had to distract the first person so that he/she shouldn’t reach the desired goal. This game helped them to understand that no matter how many obstacles come in life you have to be very focused in order to achieve your goals. The game seemed to be simple initially but as it progressed it became interesting and students enjoyed playing it.

The fourth and final session was about importance of listening. Again the students were paired in group and one of them had to tell happy moment of his/her life. The others were asked to make noise. Due to this the first student got annoyed, then the Workshop in-charged explained we all do the same thing. When someone is trying to tell you something listen carefully as at a times it cause misunderstanding and people feel bad.

Lastly, we all had fun dancing on the song from 3 Idiots Give me some sun shine, give me some rain…. It was indeed a very funfilled workshop with very clear message about how to live life, maintain relations, respect others, focus on goals. The stuents enjoyed workshop and we hope to have similar workshop for our other students a well.

Here are photos from the Workshop:

Sweet Get Together of Students and Donors

Last week, we had two of our donors Manisha Pandit and Supriya Rai with us. In month of October both, Manisha and Supriya had raised funds for us through the India Giving Challenge Online. Both were very eager to meet the students and interact with them.

We had students form various backgrounds, studying various course, who came to meet the donors. Manisha and Supriya had lovely time interacting with the students, knowing more about them and their families. The students were very expressive about their dream, future plans and how they would like to give back to the society and create awareness of education in the society. Manisha is a teacher in a school in USA and shared her experience of working with the small children’s. Supriya loves to connect with the students and mentor them from time to time. The student were happy to meet both Manisha and Supriya and all of them parted away with promise of meeting again.

Here are some of the photos:
