About James:

James Dóxx is a prime example of a self-taught saxophone player. Having no musical background, he started teaching himself the saxophone at age 24 and found it very difficult to find practical information on the subject. There were large amounts of information on-line and in books but most of it was; unreadable for beginners with no previous musical background, very outdated or gave little or no real practical insight. Determined to succeed he went on a personal quest and started a blog posting the answers to every question he ran into. He quickly discovered he wasn't the only one facing problems in getting started on the saxophone. Over the next few months he gathered a number of personal mentors (Some of them very famous saxophone players) and read and tried anything he could find on the subject. Having finally discovered the answers he was looking for he suddenly had an idea; "He used his own "beginners perspective" to right and design the very book he had wanted from the start". With a fresh eye and unburdened by any industry conventions he answered all the practical questions that beginners were facing. "Hello saxophone" came out and it quickly became one of the best selling E-books about the saxophone in the world. In just two years more then 25.000 people from all over the world have taught themselves how to play using Hello Saxophone and several manufacturers include the manual with every new saxophone they produce.

As he progressed in building his own skill on the saxophone James noticed that it was no picnic weeding through the large amount of information available for intermediate players. So he collaborated with a number of his mentors and created a follow up to Hello Saxophone called "Unleashing the Dragon". In this intermediate / advanced guide he brings together all the common practices he found with the many great players he's met and trained with. Showing a clear path through the maze of knowledge out there and making it possible for almost anybody to build a saxophone skill that borders on the professional.

James is currently based in Amsterdam weer he lives with girlfriend (jazz singer) Barbara and their cat Louix.
