State of the Ocean Report: understand, educate, protect

The ocean is a source of food, energy, minerals, increasingly of medications; it regulates the Earth’s climate and hosts the greatest diversity of life and ecosystems. To live sustainably, we need to understand the ocean's influence on us and our influence on the ocean - this is the essence of ocean literacy.

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO leads the Ocean decade and provides global knowledge and tools to better understand, educate and protect the Ocean, through the State of the Ocean report, the Ocean Literacy World Conference, and more.
